The University provides multiple avenues for students, parents, faculty, staff, and community members to report concerns about hazing and encourages all stakeholders to submit a report. When in doubt, report the concern or incident to ensure the health, well-being and safety of students. The University is best positioned to respond to hazing concerns when we receive accurate, timely, and factual information. Please do not assume others have reported the concern – we would rather receive multiple reports than none at all.
The following are ways to report a hazing concern:
- Contact the University Police Department. If in Charlottesville/Albemarle County, please call 911 to report an incident that is occurring. To report a hazing concern that is not currently occurring, contact the University Police Department, non-emergency number: 434-924-7166.
- If you are a University student or employee, complete the Online Hazing Report Form. Please provide as much detail as possible on this form. We also highly encourage you to provide contact information so that we can follow-up with any questions or requests for additional information.
- If you are not a University student or employee, you may report hazing by or affecting a University student by contacting the Dean on Call.
- Call the hazing hotline at 434-243-HAZE (4293) to report concerns of hazing.
